NAZISM AND THE HOLOCAUST
SECOND YEAR HISTORY

After the Second World War, Germany became a democracy.  However, this did not last long.  The National Socialist Party, led by Adolf Hitler, took advantage of the economic chaos that gripped the country in the 1930s and convinced millions of Germans to vote for them.  On 30th January 1933 Hitler was appointed as Chancellor of Germany.

From this position he destroyed German democracy and installed a Nazi dictatorship.  The Nazis were ultimately responsible for the death of millions of soldiers during the Second World War and millions of civilians in the Holocaust.
